Chapter: Sparks in the Crowd

Reyansh’s POV

I was sitting at one of the tables when a girl suddenly appeared, sliding into the chair beside me.

“Hey,” she said, her tone too casual.

“Hello,” I replied curtly, not even bothering to look at her.

“I’m Riya Joshi. Vikram Joshi’s daughter. You and my father are business partners.”

I glanced at her briefly, unimpressed. “I know. What do you want?”

She leaned closer, a smile playing on her lips. “Are you single? Even if you’re not… we could go out for coffee this weekend.” Her hand rested boldly on my shoulder.

I stood up immediately, brushing her hand off as though it burned. “No,” I said flatly, and walked away without looking back.

Author’s POV

Across the hall, Kaira had been searching for him. Before the varmala, she wanted to hear what he had been about to say earlier. But when her eyes finally found him, her blood boiled.

Another girl was sitting too close to him, her hand casually placed on his shoulder. How dare she?

Kaira’s fists clenched, ready to march over, but before she could take a step, she saw him rise, reject the girl, and leave. A smile tugged at her lips. He hadn’t shown even the slightest interest. Relief and something deeper warmed her chest.

She searched again until she finally spotted him talking with an old schoolmate. Too lost in admiring the sharp lines of his face and the easy authority in his stance, she didn’t realize his eyes had already found her.

He walked toward her, a smirk tugging at his lips.

“Done admiring me?” he asked.

Her eyes widened. “I wasn’t admiring you. I was just looking for Aaru.”

“Oh, really?” His smirk deepened.

She ignored the flutter in her chest. “Earlier, you were saying something. What was it?”

He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “Yes. I wanted to know… if you remember me, if you know who I am, then why did you make me a shopkeeper yesterday? And call me bhaiya?”

She folded her arms, refusing to back down. “Because you were staring at me continuously—like I was the love of your life. And I knew you didn’t remember me. So I made you the shopkeeper… to pull you out of your dream world.”

His smile widened, dangerous, teasing. “Okay. But how did you know?”

“Know what?” she asked, blinking.

“That I was actually looking at you because you are the love of my life.”

Her breath caught. “What?”

She froze, her heart dancing wildly even though her lips tried to hide it. This was everything she had once dreamed of, yet hearing it so openly left her stunned.

“How can you make your friend’s sister the love of your life after seeing her only once?” she whispered, trying to keep her voice steady.

He leaned closer, eyes glinting. “Oh? So you can make your brother’s best friend into a shopkeeper—even after knowing me for so long—but I can’t make you the love of my life?”

Her cheeks flamed. “No, you can’t.”

“Yes, I can,” he said, with quiet conviction.

Before she could reply, someone called her for the rituals. She turned away quickly, her heart racing, her mind in chaos.

The night ended with the wedding rituals, but for both Kaira and Reyansh… it was only the beginning.

✨ This version keeps their banter sharp, Reyansh’s possessive charm, and Kaira’s secret happiness at his confession while still playing it off.
